Our Deepest Fears Marianne Williamson

“Playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine!” ~Marianne Williamson

Yesterday my heart was overflowing thinking about all of the wisdom the women in my Wisdom Bloggers Sisterhood Facebook group carry inside of themselves. They have brain power, heart knowing, and body wisdom.

Not only is the Wisdom Bloggers Sisterhood a community of intentional social media influencers who share their wisdom and are weaving a tapestry of positive energy around the blogosphere, this sisterhood is so much more… including being a safe place for celebrating each others’ successes! It’s a place where you are CELEBRATED for SHINING YOUR LIGHT!

As I shared in our Facebook Group (click the link and join us), lately I’ve been feeling some shame and guilt because so many of my dreams are coming true. My ego has made me question if I should hide my JOY so other won’t feel bad. Guilt likes to creep in by whispering “Who you do think you are? Why do you think your deserving of living your dreams when ____ (fill in the blank… people are living in poverty, people are ill, babies are dying, etc).

One of my dear soul sisters minded me of Marianne Williamson’s quote about our greatest fears. I’ve always loved this quote… and now it speaks to me like never before.

Starting yesterday, I have a new daily practice. I’ll be pausing every morning and every afternoon to recite and FEEL into these words….

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ~ Marianne Williamson

DO YOU HAVE A DAILY PRACTICE? Share it in the comments below so we can all learn from your wisdom.

May you always remember that YOU ARE MEANT TO SHINE! And if you ever forget, lean into this sisterhood… and we will remind you.

Still Evolving

  • My daily practice starts with what I call my “Thank You” prayer. As soon as my feet hit the floor I say, “Thank You Thank You, Thank You for this day.” I then do my gratitude prayer and ask that “all my relations” (a saying used by many Native American tribes to include, family, friends, and all living beings – human and non-human ) be blessed with food, shelter, safety, love and a life filled with passion and meaning. I follow that with my morning meditations and my morning affirmations. Then I start my day, looking for ways to spread love, kindness and understanding in my little corner of the world.
