I went to the travel clinic this morning and got poked and prodded for my upcoming trip to Indonesia with Save the Children. I had to put on my big girl panties for the FIVE shots the nurse gave me.

Oh…and he warned me of roaming monkeys that just might bite.

Indonesia has more than 76 million children, the fourth largest child population in the world.

As a result of the development problems faced by the country, children’s health and education are put at risk – more than two million children under the age of five are malnourished and nearly one-third between the ages of five and nine are not in school. Girls and boys also face other dangers, such as child trafficking and child labour. Children under the age of 18 comprise thirty percent of all sex workers in Indonesia.

I’ll be sharing more with you over the next 6 weeks.
